Fix the website checkout bug.

The customer record was missing for first-time buyers.

I’m adding getOrCreateCustomer() and running the checkout tests.

Writing a successful prompt

Be specific

Give context

Take small steps

Claude Code
Build a website where customers can choose a birthday cake and request a pickup date. I run a neighborhood bakery. Most customers order on their phones, and we need two days to prepare a cake. Build the landing page first, then we'll move on to ordering.

I'll start with a mobile-friendly landing page for your bakery, then we'll build the ordering experience together.

Let Claude set up your projects

5

Once your repo and connectors are ready, paste this.

Check that you can reach this GitHub repo and my Supabase and Vercel connectors. Create a project called ypo-workshop in Supabase and in Vercel. Build a simple starter website in this repo, connect it to the Supabase project, and deploy it to Vercel as a production deployment so anyone can open the link. Save your work directly to the main branch. From now on, redeploy after every change you make. Never put secret keys in the code. The Supabase public key in the website is fine. Ask me before choosing anything that costs money. When it works, give me the website link and the project links. If a tool or permission is missing, tell me the exact next step.

What to do when you get stuck

Have it interview you

Before you build, interview me. One question at a time.

Give it a reference

Make it feel like this screenshot.

Say exactly what's off

The button works but it's below the fold. Move it next to the price.

Helpful tips to remember

Talk before you build.

Let's plan this first. Don't build anything yet.

Ask questions. Constantly.

What's an "API"? Explain it like I run a restaurant.
